How do you feel when you think about financial reports and strategic planning?
How do you feel when you think about marketing and sales? How do you feel when you think about invoicing or calling about past due accounts? How do you feel about invoicing, or responding to a mountain of email? What is your least favorite of business activity?
What if you could make that activity fun– or at least less annoying? Let’s try a little experiment:
- Start by thinking about what it is that makes it so unpleasant in your mind. Is it complicated? Is it scary? Is it boring? Think of two or three words that describe it.
- Now, address those words individually: what can you change about the process, the experience, your mental approach, or the aftermath of the task that would offset each descriptive word?
- For example, if it’s boring, maybe you plan to put on your favorite music while you do it. If it’s scary, think about how you will feel after it is done, with what will you reward your courage?
Find the fun, ladies. If you’re not enjoying your business, why do it?
