I had a conversation recently with a client who is planning to expand her medical practice. She has understandable fears about overextending herself, about taking on the costs of health insurance for her employees and payroll liabilities, and I invited her to think about her business from a different perspective.
“Consider that your business is in its first year of a twenty-year life. What will your business look like then?” Of course, there are many steps (and falls!) to take in a business over twenty years, but thinking about what your business could be the first step to getting it there.
In August, I wrote about planning for change in the coming year. Now, I challenge us to think about our business in twenty years. Where do we want to be? Maybe we’re not doing this anymore– what’s next?
